Membership Offer

It’s time for our GIWE Member spotlight! As you know, we began this feature about a month ago. For now, it’s a monthly feature where we profile a GIWE member and share a bit about them, their business and how they came to start their business. Each member is also listed in the “Featured Member” section in the sidebar to the right, which links to their profile, which in turn links back to their website.

We hope you enjoy getting to know your fellow members!

Mike Fenton ~ Health Coach

Q: When did you realize you wanted to be a health coach?mike-fenton

A: I founded Fenton Occupational Safety in the Spring of 2011 after spending nearly 25 years working in safety for a large mid-west utility. I found there to be a strong link between safety and wellness and began posting health related information on my safety website which in turn brought me to IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition) and a career in health coaching.

Q: How and when did you make this a reality?

A: I began schooling at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in December of 2011 and founded Heart & Soul Health Coaching in the Spring of 2012.

Q: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned so far in your career?

A: The most important lesson I have learned is to always listen to the people you work with; sometimes all they are looking for is someone to listen to them. When in a corporate environment, listen to the workers; they seem to be more in touch with whats going on than the CEO of the company.

Q: What are you working on right now?

A: I am working on establishing myself as a leading health coach that can bring people to what I call “total wellness”, a state where your mind, body and soul come together as one in good health.

Q: Name some people and/or books that have influenced your career in a positive way.

A: Some folks that have and continue to inspire me are Carolyn Gavin of Purposeful Pathways (I recently did a radio interview with her) and Ann Musico of 3Dimensional Vitality. Both have great books out on finding one’s purpose/pathway in life and both are highly respected in their fields.

Q: What excites or ignites your soul?

A: What excites or ignites my soul is being around people such as them. They are both Christian ladies that are an inspiration to everyone they come in contact with. I enjoy being around others of faith and being able to talk about the wonders of this world so many take for granted.

Editor’s note: Mike Fenton is a holistic health coach and founder of Heart & Soul Health Coaching. He is based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

In his words: “I have worked with people for over 30 years and in that time I have learned that some of life’s most rewarding things are not bought in a store or determined by the size of a bank account; it is how a person feels about themselves. I started Heart & Soul Health Coaching with one goal in mind and that goal was to help brings others to “total wellness”. To help them find the person they want to be through a program that does not just look at how many times a week they go to the gym or their ability to count calories accurately; it is about making sure the important things in life such as their careers, relationships and personal spirituality is in good health. Those are the things we should focus on first.”
