Marissa Frumento ~ Health Coach
Q: When did you realize you wanted to be a health coach?
A: I’ve been a social worker working with women for several years. I’ve always known I had a passion for empowering women, but it wasn’t until I had to overcome the desperation of a health challenge that my vision to show others how to reclaim control over their health, find their goals and dreams again, and navigate the health care system, became clear.
Q: How and when did you make this a reality?
A: Two years ago, I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC. Since then, I’ve also taken other trainings because of my passion to discover how we can fuel and heal our bodies in a deeper way.
Q: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned so far in your career?
A: The most important thing I’ve learned in this journey is that I’m a guide and a leader for the women I work with; I’m not the healer. They know what they need to heal and simply need someone to lead them to those breakthroughs. We work as a team. And often it’s that support and guidance that we need most when we feel most disheartened and alone with our exhaustion and consuming symptoms.
I’ve also learned how much putting pleasure and simple fun back into our lives can impact our healing. As women, we tend to put that aside in caring for everything and everyone around us.
Q: What are you working on right now?
A: Currently, I’m continuing to develop deeper coaching skills so my clients are experiencing greater, lasting results. I’m also learning more about how to feed our bodies for energy, reduce inflammation and be in more control over our ever changing hormones.
Q: Name some people and/or books that have influenced your career in a positive way.
A: The people that have had the greatest impact on me in my health journey, have been my own team of healers over the years. The way they treated me with compassion, imparted incredible wisdom, and gave me hope, created a passion in me to do the same. The Big Leap and The Power of Positive Thinking are books that have stretched me. The more my thought process shifted, as a result, so did my health.
Q: What excites or ignites your soul?
A: I get so excited every time I talk to a client who feels more energy, fewer symptoms, and then begins to dust her dreams off again because she has hope that she can feel good enough to pursue them again!
