“Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity… it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.” — Melody Beattie
I came across this quote recently among the stream of thoughts, quotes and graphics focused on gratitude coming my way during our annual American Thanksgiving holiday season and loved it. I admit, I don’t show my gratitude to others nearly as often as I should. But I’m reminded of how powerful an “attitude of gratitude” really is.
Stress has been linked to heart disease and cancer. Shockingly, stress is responsible for up to 90 percent of all doctor visits. Just think of the financial costs associated with stress-related maladies. The antidote for stress is gratitude.
Gratitude shifts our focus. Giving thanks and counting our blessings reminds us of the positive things in life. It makes us feel optimistic, which boosts our immune systems.
So powerful is gratitude that it can obliterate hopelessness, fear, and doubt. Gratitude can heal a broken heart, slow the aging process and restore broken relationships. Gratitude creates hope and joy. It is in joy, not fear, that we can find strength.
Success Requires a Vision for Tomorrow
As I continue to work to build GIWE, I’ve become acutely aware of the impact our emotions and mindsets have on our business success. When I let myself get caught up in fear and doubt, I become paralyzed and nothing seems to go right.
It’s easy to get so caught up in chasing success and learning the next new, surefire whizbang method for growing a business. Before I know it, I’m in a constant “more mode” – where more is never enough.
When I take the time to slow down and take in all that I already have, I am overwhelmed with my blessings.
I have SO much to be grateful for! I have been so blessed to start GIWE this year and serve an audience I’m passionate about with my gifts and talents. I’ve also been blessed with a wealth of information, resources and mentors. Just yesterday, in response to someone else’s comments, I realized just how many resources I’ve been blessed with.
I would encourage you also to focus on what you have to be thankful for – especially if you’ve been struggling with anything in your business. It will shift your entire perspective and lift you up.
Gratitude is the number one antidote for fear, doubt and dissatisfaction.
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
Gratitude can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past. It brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
